UNIVERSAL BASIC OPRESSION

Master's thesis Polyamory Design Unit (PDU) explores the possibilities of collaboration between experts being active in fine arts, product design, graphic design, architecture and philosophy in order to create a speculative future scenario. Together with Jana Trundova, Simon Barak, Ondrej Mohyla and Lukas Likavcan, I create the concept and the presentation structure for a housing complex, which is designed for polyamoric coexistence of human and non-human entities. Such a coexistence is made possible by full automation of work and global implementation of universal basic income. These initial parameters constitute a big emancipatory potential, that could change present meaning of the concept of polyamory and thus redefine networks of relations in bigger scales too.

Imagining Productive Labor Without Wage Labor: Discursive Analysis of Selected Non-Fiction Literature

The topic of the diploma thesis is the question of creating a discourse about unskilled jobs and the people who perform them. It is examined through everyday manifestations of work ethics, which is looked for in selected non-fiction literature. The diploma thesis constructs a definition of work as a concept which needs to be approached from an economic and cultural research lens at the same time. This is then linked to the development of work in the 20th century and subsequently to post-work theory. The content of the thesis is an analysis of the antinomies of work ethics in six non-fiction books devoted to low-income and unskilled jobs. Subsequently, there is an analysis of working conditions, work narratives and social discourses on work: The diploma thesis defines specific manifestations of the theories in defined antinomies in workplaces which are addressed in the analyzed books. The definition of work as a space of politics of redistribution and politics of misrecognition is supported by conclusions based on the necessity of grasping the everydayness of work ethics as a concept that maintains the work system and its inequalities and also entails revolutionary emancipatory potential. Impact of Universal Basic Income on Income and Poverty in Italy: A Multi-Scenario Analysis Using HFCS Data in EUROMOD

Mikrosimulace základního nepodmíněného příjmu v EUROMOD přisprívají probíhající diskusi o sociálních důsledcích a rozpočtové proveditelnosti této politiky. Evropská HFCS data použitá v této práci umožňují zdanění majetku jako způsob financování, aby byl základní nepodmíněný příjem rozpočtově neutrální. Tato práce zkoumá vliv tří unikátních scénářů na redistribuci příjmů a míru ohrožení chudobou na různé části italské populace. Rozmanitost italských regionů a boj s veřejným dluhem mohou vážně ohrozit proveditelnost scénářů v reálném světě. Výsledky práce následují trend radikálního snižování celkové chudoby a nerovnosti pozorovaný v této oblasti výzkumu. Tyto scénáře, spolu s pevnou daní z majetku, mají nepříznivé dopady na starší věkové skupiny, které se spoléhají na starobní důchody. Systém sociálních dávek má ve scénářích různé úrovně náhraditelnosti, které významně ovlivňují dopad na ohrožené skupiny. Práce nastoluje potenciální zmírnění nežádoucích účinků, které lze analyzovat v dalším výzkumu. Mikrosimulace postrádá behaviorální dopad základního nepodmíněného příjmu na jednotlivce, který je zachycen v provedených studiích v Evropě a Severní Americe.

Michael Hauser, Ph.D. Abstract: There is no doubt that work is an important part of human existence and our lives, but it seems that now we are working more than ever before. Just a quick look on our everyday routine will confirm the following statement: work is invading all parts of our lives. Everything is somehow connected to work: we are working on ourselves, on our bodies, on our relationships and it significantly affects our perception of the world. The definition of work and what it implies has dramatically changed in the course of time and hence new challenges have appeared. In this paper I focus on some of these challenges such as the phenomenon of precariat, bullshit jobs, idleness at work, work as a center of human life and new anti- work movements. I am also trying to describe how these problems affects human beings, society and self-presentation of individuals. I also tried to problematize widely accepted idea about the importance of work in the contemporary late capitalistic society and also suggest few ideas how to improve work conditions and life of workers. Universal basic income as a political concept and unfulfilled social reality

The master's thesis Universal basic income as a political concept and unfulfilled social reality puts focus on the concept of universalism in social policy and the possibilities of introducing its elements in the Czech Republic. The global discussion of the philosophy of social support and the popularised idea of unconditional financial transfers from the state to all citizens are thus translated into the Czech environment. The goal is to evaluate the instances hitherto applied at home and abroad, consider the perks and shortcomings of universal income, set the discussion within the contemporary Czech social framework, and assess whether it is realistic to implement reforms of this kind. The first chapter describes universal income as a concept, the second evaluates the history of universalism in the Czech Republic, the third provides an overview of the current Czech social system, and the fourth ponders possible avenues of implementing universalist reforms. The thesis aims to verify two hypotheses: the first one is to determine to which extent previous forms of universalism in the Czech environment proved to be successful; the second deals with the possibility and merits of introducing further blanket instruments in 2020. Social aspects of universal basic income

The name of this bachelor thesis is Social aspects of universal basic income. The aim of this thesis is to identify social aspects and issues of universal basic income. Thesis is designed mostly on the theoretical basis and it is comprised of four parts. The first part of this thesis introduces conceptual issues of universal basic income as well as it defines it. Furthermore, it shows the basis of universal basic income and its evolution until contemporary form and status in the social system. It also shows possible ways of funding it. The second part includes concepts of universal basic income in certain countries from all over the world and especially presents the case of Alaska, where the universal basic income is implemented. The third part introduces the concept of universal basic income in Czech Republic. The fourth part, the largest one, aims on the social aspects of the universal basic income. It presents possible influence of the universal basic income on the devaluation of the poverty level, social inequality and describes possible influence on the augmentation of social equality and the level of freedom. Furthermore, it presents assumed impacts on the labour market and the possibility to influence the position of women in the household and the society in general. It partly pursues the topics of migration and environment in the context of universal basic income. The conclusion contains several research outcomes from the survey made by the European Union on the universal basic income topic and its possible concept. This bachelor thesis may serve as an informational resource concerning the principle of the universal basic income and as a feedback for certain activities related with the topic of universal basic income.

The historical development of the concept Universal Basic Income

The aim of this thesis is to record The historical development of political and political science concept of Universal Basic Income, it tries to map from its beginnings to the present. This thesis will handle the Universal Basic Income as that described by Thomas More and by Johannes Ludovicus Vives. Thesis will focus on their later critics from series of economic and philosophical thinkers and political scientists. UBI will build on these theorists modern ideas which will then be compared with previous authors. This thesis will show the development and deepening of ideas of Universal Basic Income through comparison of the concept of individual authors.
